# What is $PRIDE?

**The Pride : Genesis**

Our genesis collection is the key to generating $PRIDE, which will be the base utility token throughout the Pride Ecosystem. We will be airdropping $PRIDE to holders at monthly intervals, instead of having a public launch that creates a huge sell pressure off the bat.\

**Passive Staking Mechanism**

We believe that traditional staking (locking up of NFTs) may not be welcomed by everyone, with holders having to pay gas fees to stake and un-stake their NFTs, as well as having to pay for claiming of their tokens. Hence, we have decided to steer away from that and instead, the team will airdrop tokens to holders on a monthly basis. This ties back to our mission of providing value for the community. We are in the process of retrieving our OS API key and upon doing so, we will be implementing a function whereby listed NFTs will not be eligible for the monthly $PRIDE airdrop.

**Use Case**

There will be plenty of opportunities for burn (deflationary) mechanics through the $PRIDE marketplace, mints and subscriptions - ratios of burn will differ based on the use case. $PRIDE will have varying use cases with other communities as well, but for starters, it will primarily be used in our own ecosystem to purchase NFTs, WL spots, merch and more.
